I recently realised that I must work on refining my production speed, this includes organising channels into groups and returns and speed up composition techniques that might other wise be deemed time consuming.
MIDI sampling was the first way in which I began speeding up the process of composition, layering kick bass samples into a 'Simpler' rather than programming the audio directly into the grid.
Another trick is to create a “Bounce Misc” channel in my projects, this will simply allow me to record and remember what I have done. Ableton already holds all the original and recorded audio in its project file which is key to explaining the process of my work, but a channel to visually see the audio bounces will help me identify what I have used where.
It will also be used for bouncing the audio down, saving CPU power, rather than simply setting a reverb on every channel or routing all the channels through a return signal, by recording a reverb and delay bounce of the sample to then chop up the reverb to create intricate spaced effects.
